Kidscape is a company that was opened in 1999 and has been running successfully ever since. The Kidscape idea is to take kids away in their school holidays to a safe and fun filled venue where they will have a holiday experience of a lifetime. So far we have been to areas in South Africa from Nylstroom, Roodeplaat Dam to the Eastern Traansvaal. We are about to explore the Eastern Cape, where our main aim is to give the kids a white water rafting experience, plus the whole Kidscape experience. In the past we have found that the camps are more successful if the kids are put into their own age groups, so you can rest assured that your 9 year old child will not sleep in the same accommodation as a 13 year old child.
Personally, I have been working with kids for about 16 years and my idea is to look after them from a parents point of view and not a teachers point of view, during school tours. On most children's camps, a group leader who is in his or her teens looks after the kids. Kidscape only employs adults, who are able to make vital decisions to look after the kids. This really gives me peace of mind. Kids get together from different schools around Gauteng, enabling them to make new friends and develop wonderful new skills in socializing with new children, boosting their self-esteem and confidence.
As far as the school tours are concerned, we manage groups from grade 8 to 12 and the size of the groups may vary from 15 to 60 or more. Kidscape is able to facilitate tours such as Art, Sports, Cultural, History and all major subjects and so much more.
